It is pretty boring in Chin Hills. No where to go (except trekking the same trail again and again every day), nothing to enjoy (except the same scene again and again), and worst of all, no internet at all. In addition to that, it is excruciatingly cold. During winter months, the temperature sometimes drops to as low as 4 to 5 degree Celsius, making the nights unbearable. I have to wear three sweaters, three blankets, a pair of gloves and socks, and a wool cap above my head every night. Even then, the cold is unbearable. The wind also blows quite strong, and the sound of the wind blowing through the pine forest is quite menacing to the weak souls. Even during the day, we have to use charcoal stoves to make us warm. And when it rains in winter, the cold becomes unthinkable. The whole town is covered in thick fogs, reducing the visibility to just a few feet. Really feel like above the clouds. What a harsh and cruel weather it is!
I wrote this one on the night of 16th of November 2006, while in Chin Hills.
